About the stadium

Opened in 1983 in downtown Vancouver as Canada's first covered stadium, originally fitted with an air-supported dome roof. After the dome was damaged by snow in 2007, a 2009-2011 renovation replaced it with a retractable cable-supported roof — the largest of its kind in the world at completion. Soccer capacity sits around 54,500. The venue is home to the Vancouver Whitecaps (MLS) and the BC Lions (CFL). It hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics, the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup final, and Concacaf Gold Cup matches. At the 2026 World Cup it stages seven matches: five group games, a Round of 32, and a Round of 16 on July 7. It operates as Vancouver Stadium during the tournament.
