About the stadium
Opened in 2010 in Zapopan, a suburb of Guadalajara. Home of Chivas, the Liga MX club that has historically fielded only Mexican-born players. The structure is wrapped in a grass-covered, volcano-shaped facade that blends it into the surrounding landscape. Permanent capacity is around 49,000. The venue was known as Estadio Omnilife until 2017, then Estadio Chivas. It hosted the opening ceremony of the 2011 Pan American Games and regularly stages Liga MX clasicos against Club America. At the 2026 World Cup it hosts four matches, all in the group stage, including Mexico's second game on June 18. It is the only tournament venue without a knockout fixture. It operates as Estadio Guadalajara during the tournament.
