MATCH SCHEDULE IN THE CITY
About the city
Guadalajara is the capital of Jalisco state and Mexico's second-largest city, with a metro population of roughly 5.4 million. World Cup 2026 matches are staged at Estadio Akron in the suburb of Zapopan (renamed Estadio Guadalajara, ~49,000 seats), the home of Chivas, one of Liga MX's two most decorated clubs. The venue hosts four group-stage matches, including Mexico's second match on 18 June. Guadalajara previously hosted World Cup matches in 1970 and 1986 at Estadio Jalisco, making 2026 the city's third tournament. The main airport is Guadalajara International (GDL). June weather is warm and dry before the rainy season, 25-30 °C at an elevation of 1,566 metres.
