Greater New York is the largest metro in the United States at about 19.5 million people, spanning parts of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The World Cup 2026 final is on 19 July at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey (~82,000 seats, opened 2010), 8 km from Manhattan. It is the first World Cup final on the East Coast of the United States. The stadium stages eight matches and is home to two NFL teams, the New York Giants and the New York Jets, the only such arrangement in the league. It hosted Super Bowl XLVIII. MLS side New York Red Bulls play at a nearby separate venue, while NYCFC plays in the Bronx. The main airports are JFK, LaGuardia and Newark (a United hub).
