About the stadium
Opened in 1987 in Miami Gardens as Joe Robbie Stadium. For a long stretch it served as the shared home of the Miami Dolphins (NFL) and the Florida Marlins (MLB) until baseball moved to its own park in 2012. A 2015-2016 renovation added a partial canopy over the seating bowl. Permanent capacity sits around 65,000. The venue has hosted six Super Bowls, most recently LIV in 2020, and since 2022 the Miami Grand Prix of Formula 1 on a temporary circuit wrapped around the stadium. At the 2026 World Cup it stages seven matches: four group games, a Round of 32, a quarterfinal, and the third-place playoff on July 18 — the day before the final in New York. It operates as Miami Stadium during the tournament.
