About the stadium

Opened in 1972 as part of the Truman Sports Complex, sharing the site with baseball's Kauffman Stadium. Home to the Kansas City Chiefs (NFL). Permanent capacity is around 76,400, making it one of the largest NFL venues. It is widely regarded as the loudest stadium in American sport: a 2014 game set a Guinness record for crowd noise at an outdoor venue at 142.2 dB. A 2010 renovation preserved its original single-bowl design. The venue has staged major international friendlies and Concacaf Gold Cup matches. At the 2026 World Cup it hosts six matches: four group games, a Round of 32, and a quarterfinal on July 11. It operates as Kansas City Stadium during the tournament.
